Buffo’s Wake is a twelve-legged beast, hatched in the murky backwater of Brighton, UK. Armed with accordions, violins and a bucket full of gusto they waltz, tango, mosh and kolo their way through a vast array of influences from Eastern European, Balkan and Russian folk, to punk rock and cabaret, telling tales of debauchery, deformity, zombies, incest and anatomy and making audiences dance late into the night in the process.
Musical schizophrenics, drawing from diverse backgrounds ranging from Drum n’ Bass DJ’s to classically trained string players, punks to funk players and poets to showmen, you’re never quite sure what to expect next from Buffo’s Wake.
In their time together, they have toured all over the world, finding an inspired, confused, sweaty, and often very drunk reception everywhere they go.
Gypsy, Balkan and Klezmer Carnival Punks – with influences from Abba to Zappa, Buffo’s Wake are guaranteed to leave you dancing like a man possessed!
From the deepest, darkest jungles of Leicestershire, The Whiskey Rebellion are a band like no other. Performing a blend of balkan gypsy dance music, celtic folk tunes, and pure unfettered punk, they provide a sweat-laden performance that leaves audiences stunned and gasping for breath. Featuring a line-up including accordion, violin, banjo, mandolin, guitar, and with a live show renowned for its relentless energy and theatricality, this group of hair-brained harlequins are infamous for whipping any crowd into a frenzy of dance and debauchery.
Homeless Shakespeare began as a solo artist in 2014, with the ambition of producing a 'no genre' artist. Over time and albums, The Pigeon Theatre was formed to better present the ideas, that quickly developed to become a band with idiosyncratic sound, using the ambiguous term 'Gyp Hop' to describe their style. Song themes ranging from dealing (badly) with mental health issues, general internal insanity, general social insanity, politics, and drinking, often times using metaphors and analogies to double up on the lyrical themes that converse and rap their way through the up beat, dark gypsy-Jazz-rock sounds.
